28 years ago tonight, the world was robbed of one of the great musical, artistic, and cultural icons of the 20th Century. Much has been written and spoken about the man who was John Lennon, and the legacy of his work, and it’s not for me to add anything more of note. Whilst all things Beatles intrigue, captivate and inspire me, Lennon has always had that added dimension of being a hero of sorts to me. Far from the perfect human being, but an individualist in every sense - the enigmatic ‘working class hero’ - and a song writer of rare distinction.
Relive the magic of John Lennon via ‘(Just Like) Starting Over’, the last song to chart for Lennon during his lifetime, and a poignant reminder of what might have been.
Hi, I got here via he Models (and that's not a blogpost it's a masterwork!) and saw JL in your sidebar list - please visit my 9-9-09 post I managed to work him into of course.
Hi Ann, thanks for your comment. You're no doubt familiar with the huge significance the #9 had in Lennon's life. I read a bio on him once that dedicated a page and half outlining various and sundry #9 references in both his work and life - some more plausible than others - but powerful enough to convince the strongest sceptic that there may just be something to this whole numerology thing. I've bookmarked your blog and look forward to reading your back catalogue and future posts. All the best :)
